Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University Delegation Visits HKCT with Fruitful Outcomes, Deepening Educational and Cultural Ties Between Two Regions

On December 5, 2025, HKCT Institute of Higher Education and Hong Kong College of Technology (collectively “HKCT”) hosted the “Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University – Student Exchange Report Meeting”, marking the successful conclusion of a two-week exchange program. A total of 20 students and one teacher from Guizhou Communications Polytechnic University (GZCP) visited Hong Kong. Through video highlights and group presentations, the report meeting showcased the students’ learning experiences and cultural observations, further promoting mutual understanding and friendship between teachers and students from Guizhou and Hong Kong.

In her speech, Ms LAM Mo-lin, Director of Strategic Development at HKCT, reviewed the strong ties between HKCT and GZCP, which have been fostered since the two institutions signed a sister-school agreement in 2023. She noted that in 2024, HKCT’s social work faculty and students visited Guizhou, which led to the invitation for Guizhou teachers and students to return the visit to Hong Kong. Ms LAM emphasized that this was the longest and most content-rich exchange program HKCT has ever hosted. She praised the GZCP students for their politeness, proactive attitude, and deep sense of humanistic care—for example, during their field trip to Cheung Chau, they voluntarily participated in a flag-selling charity event organized by Yan Chai Hospital to raise funds for victims of the Tai Po fire. She expressed her hope that upon returning to Guizhou, the students would become friendly ambassadors for Hong Kong.

The GZCP students were divided into four groups to present their reflections and share what they had learned during their stay in Hong Kong. They generally agreed that HKCT offers diverse programs and innovative teaching methods. Through a series of enriching hands-on activities organized by HKCT—such as pasta making and coffee brewing, African drum music experience, alcohol ink painting, a special lecture on Down syndrome, seminars on information technology and cybersecurity, as well as visits to the MTR Academy and cultural exploration in Cheung Chau—the students gained an in-depth understanding of HKCT’s teaching characteristics and experienced Hong Kong’s lifestyle and culture. They also mentioned the warmth and friendliness of HKCT teachers and students, and the “heart-to-heart” atmosphere on campus, which made them feel welcomed and deeply touched.

After the presentations, Professor LAM Sam, Associate Vice President of HKCT, awarded certificates to the GZCP students and delivered closing remarks. He noted the sincerity and insightful perspectives reflected in the students’ reports, thanked them for their adaptability and cooperation in a new environment, and highlighted that their presence brought fresh perspectives and inspiration to HKCT. He encouraged the students to take this visit as a starting point to actively plan for the future, pay attention to the development of both Mainland China and Hong Kong, and share this valuable experience with more people.

This exchange demonstrated the positive outcomes of educational collaboration between Guizhou and Hong Kong, further promoting cultural exchange and emotional connection, while laying a solid foundation for sustained cooperation and deeper engagement between the two institutions in the future.
