Current Student

Studying graphic design has been an enriching experience for me. As a calligrapher for 4 years, I wanted to explore my possibilities and enhance my creativity, transitioning from delicate strokes to the art of visual communication.

Throughout my coursework and projects, I have gained a strong understanding of design principles and the creative process. I have acquired practical skills in areas such as typography, layout, and branding that will be invaluable as I progress in this field.

My journey through the Professional Diploma in Graphic Design program has been transformative. It has provided me with the knowledge, skills, and creative mindset to tackle a variety of design challenges, and has cultivated a deep passion for the field within me. I am enthusiastic about continuing to explore the endless possibilities of visual communication in the future.

Boris KWOK

2022-23 Graduate

I have many years of practical experience in design, but I still feel that professional recognition qualifications are an honor and are of great help to my career prospects. In view of this, I completed the Professional Diploma in Graphic Design program at HKCT in 2021-22, and then continued my studies at the University of Sunderland in HKCT to complete the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Graphic Design program.

The courses at the school keep pace with the times, enriching my knowledge of current design and broadening my horizons. Through the guidance of the course instructors, we were able to fully grasp the 5W1H of design. We were not just blindly pursuing visual beauty. It once again inspired my thinking and creativity and allowed me to regain my passion for design.

I think that this course is suitable for those who want to enter the design industry or deepen their knowledge of design.

2019-20 Graduate

I always believe that it is never too late to chase your dreams. Being a lab technician for five years, I started an unexpected journey in graphic design, an area that I am interested in, but never had enough courage to partake.

From the course, I have gained theoretical and practical knowledge on not only design, but also design thinking, problem-solving, marketing and how to deal with clients from experienced and helpful instructors. After my first year of studies, I got a job as a graphic designer in a branding company. From working and learning at the same time, my skills improved a lot.  All my instructors gave me lots of support and more importantly, encouragement whenever I ran into problems, whether it was a specific problem or a career decision. I was able to apply the knowledge I learnt from school in my daily work and at the same time, gain work experience as an independent graphic designer.

After graduation from the HKCT Professional Diploma in Graphic Design, I resigned from my job in the branding company to become a full-time mum, but I took some freelance jobs, which really made my daily life busy and exciting. I really think that the Professional Diploma will help those who are considering a career path in graphic design or who want a taste or understanding of what graphic design is about.
